Family takes whirlwind east coast vacation to DC and New York

02-Mar-07  --  With the prospect of the family moving to Austin, Texas, (see next news item) we decided that we better take Lisa to see Washington, DC, and New York City... before Heather had to quit JetBlue and lose her flight benefits.

We found a very small window where all of our schedules would permit us to go, and prayed for availability on the airplanes.

We ended up flying from Salt Lake City to Long Beach, CA, THEN to Dulles on Thursday. Friday was spent touring Washington, DC, then jetting up to New York Saturday morning. After touring New York, we headed back to the airport that night and narrowly made it on the flight back to Salt Lake!

There was so much to do in such a little bit of time, we took tour buses around both cities; it was the best way to see the important highlights. What fun!

A special recognition need to go to Lisa. By the time we got to the Washington Monument ticket booth, all the tickets had been distributed, which was one of the stops we REALLY wanted to go to. Lisa, who doesn't like talking on the phone, walked up to the monument guard and convinced him to let us up anyway. We are so proud of her!

Take a look at our pictures from the trip at the link below.
